I just spoke to an agent who was picked on his first posting less than a year ago.  All he had was his license.  Sounds as though he got lucky. The company that started him gave him .50 cents a mile to get on location. Trained him for 3 days for a State Farm cert. Wind etc etc. advanced him $1000. til he got his first paycheck.  Lucky guy!  His advice is to get several licenses from coastal states where storms are more likely to hit.
